Obituary of Dorothy C Baum

DOLGEVILLE – Dorothy C. Baum, 96 formerly of N. Second Street, Dolgeville, NY and more recent of The Mohawk Homestead, Mohawk passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Utica. She was born on November 13, 1918 in Dolgeville the daughter of the late Eugene and Minnie (Comstock) Hoerz. She was a graduate of Dolgeville High School Class of 1937. On June 10, 1941 she was united in marriage to her husband of 54 years John P. Baum at the Universalist Church Parsonage, Dolgeville. Mr. Baum predeceased her on June 17, 1995. She was a member of the 1918 Club, Oppenheim Senior Citizens, the Spruce Lake Club. An avid card player, who also enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, crafting and crocheting. She and her husband John enjoyed traveling and had many fond memories of their time spent in many locations especially in Hawaii and Germany. Mrs. Baum was employed for many years by the Dolgeville Central School in the cafeteria. She is survived by her sons; John P. Baum, Jr. and his wife Carol and William R. Baum and his wife Donna both of Dolgeville, grandchildren; Robert W. Baum and his wife Amy, Johns Creek, Georgia, Christine Palmeter and her husband Raymond, Dolgeville, Philip R. Baum and his wife Amy, Worcester, NY and Laurie A. Clark and her husband Daniel, Dolgeville, great grandchildren; Joshua Palmeter, Nicole Baum, Allison Baum, Matthew Baum, Samantha Clark, Alexander Clark, Madison Baum, Altaira Baum, John Baum and Emily Baum, a great grandson; Jacoby Baum and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister; Helen L. Newman on November 26, 1995. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 23, 2015 at 11:00 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY with the Rev. James Thomas officiating. Interment will take place in Dolgeville Cemetery, Dolgeville. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Friday, October 23, 2015 from 9-11 am and to attend the funeral services to follow. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mrs. Baum be considered to the Mohawk Homestead, 62 E. Main St., Mohawk, NY 13407. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
