Douglas R. Dibble, Sr., 71 of State Route 5S, Mohawk passed away with his family by his side on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at Little Falls Hospital following a lengthy and valiant battle with vascular and cardiac disease. He was born on May 4, 1944 in Herkimer, NY the son of the late Milton and Edith (Hill) Dibble. One of 9 siblings, he was educated in Dolgeville and later Mohawk Schools. He was united in marriage to the former Gaye Stegich in April of 1974 in the Town of Scriba, NY. Mr. Dibble was a veteran of the US Navy. For many years he was employed by General Electric / Lockheed Martin on French Road, Utica until their closing. He was last employed as the Lead Maintenance Mechanic for the St. Luke’s Home, New Hartford. In his leisure time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his four wheeler and daily conversations and comradery with Tommie and the boys at George Lumber in Little Falls. He is survived by his wife Gaye, Mohawk, his son; Justin Dibble (Erin), Mohawk and his sons; Randy Dibble (Elena), Ilion and Douglas Dibble, Jr. (Christine), Frankfort and his daughter; Vicky Palmer (Gary), S. Glens Falls, his grandchildren; Madison, Sophia, Grayson James and Logan Douglas Dibble. He was predeceased by his beloved sister in law; Rosemary (Stegich) Bennett, who helped take care of Doug for many years, a sister June (Dibble) Hoke with whom he resided with in his younger years, his brother Milton and 5 other siblings. He was also predeceased by his beloved Golden Retriever “April Jane” who he shared a special bond with. In keeping with his wishes services will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY. The family wishes to express its sincere gratitude for the loving care provided to him by the staff of the inpatient unit on the 3rd floor of Little Falls Hospital along with the dialysis unit. They adopted Doug (dad) as one of their family and made him feel like one of their own and far from just a patient. In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Doug may be considered to the Herkimer County Humane Society, PO Box 73, Mohawk, NY 13407.
