Obituary of Bettyjane Boepple
LITTLE FALLS – Bettyjane Boepple, 89 of Little Falls formerly of S. Daytona Beach, FL passed away Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at the home of her daughter Judy on W. Monroe St., Little Falls with whom she resided.
She was born on February 25, 1927 in the Town of Herkimer, NY the daughter of the late Eli and Lora (Prall) Doxtater. She was educated in Ft. Plain Rural School and Little Falls High School.
On May 18, 1946 she was united in marriage to her husband of 54 years George T. Boepple in Ft. Plain, NY. Mr. Boepple predeceased her on August 8, 2000.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Little Falls/Herkimer and attended the Port Orange Methodist Church while she resided in Florida.
She was a seamstress and avid quilt maker making quilt for most of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also, made wedding cakes and gave cake decorating lessons. At one time she was the ILGWU (Garment Workers Union) Chairperson, a member and officer of the Royal Neighbors of America, Girl Scout Leader, Owned and Operated “The Hut” Sandwich Shop in Little Falls, and helped at Judy’s Bakery and Café making pies and waitressing. She was awarded the Woman of the Year by the Little Falls WCA, served on the Town of Little Falls Election Board. She was also an avid gardener and canned or froze most of her vegetables from the garden. While in Florida she volunteered at the Port Orange Methodist Church and the Bridge of Hope Food Kitchen in Daytona Beach.
She was employed for several years as a seamstress for the P&K Dress Co., Little Falls and was last employed in the Housekeeping Dept. of Van Allen’s Nursing Home, Little Falls.
She is survived by her son: Frank E. Boepple and his wife Ruthanne, Little Falls, her daughters; Joan Grose, S. Daytona Beach, FL, Georgia Tucci and her husband Mark, Little Falls and Judy Harter, Little Falls, her brothers; George Doxtater, Willsboro, NY and Eli Doxtater and his wife Frances, Ft. Plain, NY, 17 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter; Jane Marie Boepple and her step daughters Betty Jane Zimik and Mary Tanner, her sisters; Helen Smith and Marion Fuhs and by her grandson Dennis Lee Barnes and three son-in-law’s William Grose Jr., Lawrence Tanner and Edward Zimick.
Memorial services will be held on Monday, June 20, 2016 at 6:00 pm from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY with the Rev. Kyle Nesbitt, officiating. Interment will take place in Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills at the convenience of the family.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Monday, June 20, 2016 from 4-6 pm and to attend the service to follow.
In lieu of flowers it is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mrs. Boepple be considered to Hospice & Palliative Care, 4277 Middle Settlement Rd., New Hartford, NY 13413 Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
