Obituary of Ronnie V Houser
DOLGEVILLE – Ronnie V. Houser, 57 of Dolgeville, NY passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Faxton-St. Luke’s Medical Center, New Hartford.
He was born on November 29, 1958 in Little Falls the son of the late Ralph G and Catherine R. (Moshier) Houser. He was a graduate of Dolgeville High School Class of 1976.
Mr. Houser was a proud veteran of the US Air Force. Entering the service on September 1, 1981. He served as a member of the 416 Medical Group as a S/Sgt. Aeromedical Technician for 10 years in Air Force Base’s in Arizona, Hawaii and Griffiss AFB, Rome, NY. He was active in the support of Operation Desert Shield/Storm. He retired from the service and was honorably discharged on December 16, 1991. Prior to his military career he was employed for several years as a mechanic for the former Daniel Green Co., Dolgeville.
He was a member of the Little Falls American Legion Post # 31, a past member of the former Herman Schumacher American Legion Post and the former Arginsinger-James Post VFW both of Dolgeville and enjoyed visiting and spending time with his “brothers in arms” at the Remsen Memorial Post 982 VFW for many years and was a member of the Salisbury Vol. Fire Dept. In his earlier years he was proud of becoming one of the youngest EMT’s at the age of 17, later going on to serve as Captain of the former Dolgeville Area Vol. Ambulance Corps (DAVAC)
Mr. Houser was an avid Amateur Radio Operator with the call sign of KC2QNW, a member of the Fort Herkimer Amateur Radio Assn. and Past President of the Herkimer County ARES/RACES Emergency Radio Operators Group. He enjoyed building and flying Radio Controlled Airplanes, also coin collecting, collecting Herkimer Diamonds, metal detecting, hunting and fishing. He also served as a WKTV Weather Watcher for many years.
He is survived by daughters; Stacey Carpenter and her husband Damian, Salisbury Center and Kelly Bobar and her husband Scott, Canajoharie, his sister; Deborah Nichols and her husband Richard, Salisbury Center, his beloved grandchildren; Crystallynn and Ryan Bobar, nephews Jason Nichols and his wife Darlene, Ballston Spa and Scott Nichols and his wife Dustina, New Albany, OH, his dear and close friends; Bob Boyer, Dolgeville, Richard Moshier, Indiana, Chris Emerson, Utica, Wesley Wright, Marcy and his cousin Elliot Houser, Cherry Valley and several grand nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his former wife and mother of his children Kathy (Simpson) Houser, Oxford.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 5, 2016 at 7:00 pm from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY with the Rev. Ann Zimmerman, Pastor of the Trinity Lutheran Church, Herkimer officiating. Interment with full Military Honors will take place in Arlington National Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Monday, September 5, 2016 from 4-7 pm and to attend the funeral services to follow.
It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Houser be considered to the CNY Veteran's Outreach Center, 726 Washington St. Utica, NY 13502. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
Members of the Salisbury Vol. Fire Dept. will call in a body at the funeral home on Monday evening at 6:30 pm.
