Obituary of Eleanor J Hayes

LASSELSVILLE – Eleanor J. Hayes, 82 of County Highway 119, Lassellsville, NY (T/Ephratah) passed away, Saturday, September 10, 2016 at Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown. Eleanor was born on September 22, 1933 in Herkimer, NY. Daughter of the late Donald and Gladys (Griffin) Cline. She was a graduate of Oppenheim-Ephratah Central School class of 1951; Albany Business College class of 1954, FMCC Class of 1973 and State university of Albany class of 1975. She was united in marriage to her husband of 60 years William P. Hayes on September 15, 1956 at the United Methodist Church in Lassellsville. Mrs. Hayes was employed in various offices from 1954-1970. She became a business teacher at the Little Falls School district in 1972. She retired in 1992 and continued to Substitute teach for 14 years at the St Johnsville schools. Her love of life was being a Christian and spiritual leader in her church and community. Her blessings were her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be missed by her family, friends and former students. She also at one time served as a member of the Oppenheim-Ephratah Central School Board of Education. She is survived by her husband, William, her three grandchildren, Nicole (Andy) Benedict of Lassellsville, S/Sgt. Donald Miller USAF and companion Jessica Baker of Georgia, Amanda (Avery) Greene of Middleville. She also leaves her great grandchildren; Donald and Shawn Overacker, Donnie Edward and Brylee Miller, Anthony, Aden and Alijah Greene. She also leaves many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Leanne, 1967, her foster son Donald Miller, 1999, her sister Dorothy Snell, 1999 and her aunt Gladys Donlin, 2013. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY on Thursday, September 15, 2016 from 5-8 pm. Graveside funeral services will be held on Friday, September 16, 2016 at 10:00 am at Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills with Pastor Richard Smith, Cobleskill, NY officiating. It is the wish of the family in lieu of flowers that contributions in memory of Mrs. Hayes be considered to the RGL Fire Dept., c/o Terri Souza 172 church St., St Johnsville NY 13452. Envelopes will be made available at the funeral home.
