Obituary of Thomas Bradford Bergen

LITTLE FALLS Thomas Bradford Bergen, 24, of Johnnycake Road, Little Falls, NY (Town of Danube) passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at Little Falls Hospital after being stricken at home. He was born on July 8, 1992 in Little Falls, the son of William W. and Tammy Helmer-Bergen. He was a graduate of Little Falls High School Class of 2011, as well as a graduate of Mohawk Valley Community College with an AAS Degree in Graphic Arts Technology and a Certificate in Small Business Management. Tom enjoyed many activities throughout his school years in Little Falls and in college and was voted an Observer-Dispatch Teen All-Star in 2011. For the past two years Tom has been employed as an Engraver for All Events Engraving, Little Falls, a position which he truly loved and it reflected in the quality of his work. Tom was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Ft. Plain, where he served on the church council, assisted with communion, and was their go-to man for any other work that needed to be done. He was a member of Boy Scout Troop # 31, Little Falls, and was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout in 2007 at the age of 14. He currently served as Asst. Scoutmaster for the troop and was a member of the Order of the Arrow Lodge. He enjoyed volunteering for the Arc Herkimer for the past 16 years, participating in the American Heart Association Heart Run and Walk and was an Advocate for Autism Awareness. An avid video gamer, a NASCAR fan, especially Jeff Gordon, a fan of the Yankees and the New England Patriots, he also bowled in the Sunday Night League at the Gorge View Lanes, Little Falls, and had a love of collecting all types of signs and license plates, something he started at a very young age. A big-hearted person who could light up your day with his smile and was quick to say “Thank you” and “I love you”, Tom touched many lives and he will be truly missed by his family and all who knew him. He is survived by his parents, Bill and Tammy, Little Falls; his brother, William H. (Billy) Bergen, Little Falls; his paternal grandmother, Beverly Bergen, Mindenville, his maternal grandmother, Joan and her husband Allen Case, Mohawk and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Henry Bergen; maternal grandfather, Bradford Helmer and his cousin, Rochelle Jones. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 10:00 am from the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 36 Lydius St., Fort Plain, NY with the Rev. Jonathan Litzner and Rev. Kenneth Dingman officiating. Interment will take place at the Ostrander Cemetery, Town of Danube. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY on Friday, October 28, 2016 from 5-8 pm and to attend the funeral services on Saturday morning. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Tom be considered to the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 36 Lydius Street, Fort Plain, NY 13339.
