Obituary of William P. Hayes

LASSELSVILLE - William P. Hayes, 84 of County Highway 119, Lasselsville, NY (Town of Ephratah) passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born on May 24, 1932 in the same home in which he passed away the son of the late Percy L. and Loretta (Bronk) Hayes. He was a graduate of Ilion High School. On September 15, 1956 he was united in marriage to his wife of 60 years the former Eleanor J. Cline at the United Methodist Church, Lasselsville. Mrs. Hayes predeceased him on September 10, 2016. A veteran of the Korean War serving with the US Army. He entered the service on August 22, 1952 in Syracuse, NY. He was honorably discharged on August 14, 1954 at Camp Kilmer, NJ. A devote Christian, he served as Pastor and currently Pastor Emeritus of the Joy Fellowship Church, Lasselsville where his efforts and dedication will be truly missed. Mr. Hayes was employed for 20 years as a School Bus Driver for the Oppenheim-Ephratah Central School District retiring in 1996 prior to that he was employed in the same capacity for the Little Falls/Fonda Bus Corp., St. Johnsville for several years. He is survived by his three grandchildren, Nicole (Andy) Benedict of Lassellsviile, S/Sgt. Donald Miller USAF and companion Jessica Baker of Georgia, Amanda (Avery) Greene of Middleville and Lisa Marriott of Little Falls He also leaves his great grandchildren; Donald and Shawn Overacker, Donnie Edward and Brylee Miller, Anthony, Aden and Alijah Greene and Tyler and Kelsey Marriott and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter Leanne, 1967 and his foster son Donald Miller, 1999. Graveside interment services will be held at a time and date to be announced in the spring of 2017 at Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills. Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY. There are no calling hours. It is the wish of the family in lieu of flowers that contributions in memory of Mr. Hayes be considered to the RGL Fire Dept., c/o Terri Souza 172 church St., St Johnsville NY 13452.
