Obituary of Kenneth P. Swartz

DOLGEVILLE - Kenneth P. Swartz, 89 of 17 East Faville Ave., Dolgeville, NY, passed away Saturday, February 11, 2017 at St. Johnsville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center where he has been a resident since December of 2016. He was born on January 31, 1928, in Little Falls the son of the late John and Laura (Hayes) Swartz. He was educated in the Little Falls schools. He was married to his wife of 68 years, the former Lorraine A. Jones on February 18, 1949 from the Inghams Mills Baptist Church. Mr. Swartz while being a member of the Inghams Mills Baptist Church served as Deacon, Trustee and Usher. He was a past member of the Rural Park Cemetery Association Board of Directors and was a member of the Grand Square Dancing Club. Mr. Swartz was a veteran of WWII serving with the US Army. He was employed, for 40 years, by the former Cherry-Burrell Corp., Little Falls, retiring as a Carpenter and Truck Driver. He is survived by his wife Lorraine, 3 sons Kenneth J. Swartz and his wife Dorothy, Wynantskill, NY, Rodney Swartz and his wife Sheba, Little Falls, David Swartz and his companion of Raleigh, NC., a sister Virginia Mead, Little Falls, 8 grandchildren Christopher, Renee, Andrea, Heather, Amy, Cory Swartz, Adam Minor-Swartz, 5 step grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Swartz family would like a special thanks to Margret Doxtader and family, Cindy Treen and Ed Orlieb for their special care and companion shown to the Swartz family. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 5:00 pm from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY. with Pastor Gertrude Ortlieb of Inghams Mills Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will take place in Rural Park Cemetery in the spring. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Friday, February 17, 2017 from 3-5 pm and to attend the funeral services that follow. The Swartz family would like to extend a special thanks to the St. Johnsville Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, their staff along with Dr. Gregory O’Keefe for the exceptional care.
