Obituary of Shirley J Allmendinger

LITTLE FALLS- Shirley J. Allmendinger, 82 of 760 E. Monroe Street (Valley View Courts), Little Falls passed away Sunday, August 6, 2017 at the Alpine Nursing & Rehab. Center, Little Falls where she had been a resident for the past few months. She was born on November 21, 1934 in Little Falls, NY the daughter of the late Roland C. and Beatrice (Glover) Harper. She was educated in Little Falls schools. She was first united in marriage to William Hessler who predeceased her in September of 1968. Then on August 1, 1970 she was united in marriage to her husband of 20 years Joseph L. Allmendinger at the Christ Lutheran Church, Little Falls. Mr. Allmendinger predeceased her on February 26, 1991. She was a member of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Little Falls. As well as a member of the American Legion Post # 31 Ladies Auxiliary, Little Falls. Mrs. Allmendinger was employed for many years in the Housekeeping Dept. of Little Falls Hospital. She is survived by her son and daughter in law, Richard and Leann Hessler, Phillipsburg, NJ, her grandchildren Richard Hessler, Jr., Joseph Hessler, her great grandson Joseph Jacob Hessler, her sister, Frances Sponable, Little Falls, her dear friend, Nadine Marchese, Little Falls who was always there for Shirley, several nieces and nephews especially her niece and goddaughter Melissa Zawtocki and her husband Greg, Latham, NY. She was predeceased by her brothers, Cecil Frederick Harper, Donald Harper and by her sisters, Bessie Altamura and Theresa Gressler. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at 11:00 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY with the Rev. Dr. Steven A. Scarcia, Rector of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Little Falls officiating. Interment will take place in Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 10-11 am and to attend the funeral services to follow. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mrs. Allmendinger be considered to the Emmanuel episcopal Church, 588 Albany St., Little Falls, NY 13365. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose. The family would like to extend their since appreciation to the all of the staff of the Alpine Nursing and Rehabilitation Center especially the Physical Therapy Dept. for their wonderful care and compassion shown to Shirley and her family.
