Obituary of Nancy E. Champion

NEW HARTFORD – Nancy E. Champion, 68 of Merritt Place, New Hartford passed away on Friday, October 6, 2017 at the Abraham House, Utica with her loving family at her side. She was born on August 12, 1949 in Little Falls the daughter of David J. Champion of Little Falls and the late June (Kaufman) Champion who predeceased her on October 16, 2008. She graduated with honors from Little Falls High School class of 1967 and also with honors from St. Lawrence University with a degree in Sociology. Miss. Champion was first employed in the Human Resources Dept. of Little Falls Hospital for several years. She was last employed as the Director of Human Resources for Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare, New Hartford until her retirement in April of 2004. She also served on the Board of Directors for the House of the Good Shepard for many years. A caring and loving woman who always put family first. She enjoyed spending time with her parents and sisters, as well as being involved with her nieces and nephews and their families as they grew over the years especially at the family camp on Pleasant Lake. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her father, David J. Champion, Little Falls her sisters, Donna Polnak and her husband Joseph, Little Falls, Linda Pasquale and her husband David, Little Falls and Patricia Champion, Binghamton, her nieces and nephews, Charles Stahl and his wife Michele, David Stahl and his wife Lisa, Jacqueline Van Slyke and her husband Anthony, Timothy Stahl, Joseph Polnak and his wife Kathryn, Denise Hingre and her fiancé Michael Tinkler, Terri Scaparo and her husband Stephen, Christopher Pasquale and his wife Heather and Erin Champion, her grand nieces and nephews, Charles Stahl, Chance Stahl, Andrew Van Slyke, Erika Van Slyke, Michael Polnak, Joseph Polnak, Nicholas Polnak, Alyssa Hingre, Sarah Hingre, Jaclyn Hingre, Ethan Scaparo, Lindsey Scaparo, Gabriella Pasquale, Sophia Clarke and her longtime friend from college Lynne Brown and her husband Arthur, Florida. Also surviving are her feline companions, Allie and Sadie. She was predeceased by brother in law Charles A. Stahl on November 8, 1977 and by her nephew Jeffrey Pasquale on August 25, 2011. Memorial services will be held for the family at their convenience with interment in Church Street Cemetery, Little Falls. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY. In lieu of flowers it is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Miss. Champion be considered to the Abraham House, 1203 Kemble St., Utica, NY 13501. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the Abraham House and Hospice & Palliative Care for the kindness, care and compassion shown to Miss. Champion and her family.
