Obituary of Virginia S Mead

DOLGEVILLE – Virginia S. Mead, 87 formerly of Little Falls and Parkside Courts, Dolgeville passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at the St. Johnsville Nursing and Rehab. Center, St. Johnsville, NY where she had been a resident since October 16, 2017. She was born on November 23, 1929 in Inghams Mills, NY the daughter of the late John and Laura (Hayes) Swartz, Jr.. She was educated in Little Falls schools. On August 22, 1970 she was united in marriage to her husband of 25 years Cal. F. Mead at the Grace Congregational Church, St. Johnsville. Mr. Mead predeceased her on May 25, 1996. She was a member of the Inghams Mills Baptist Church. Mrs. Mead was employed for 28 years as a Certified Nurse’s Aide at Little Falls Hospital retiring in 1994. She is survived by her daughter Betty Jean Darling and her husband David, Sr., Salisbury, her granddaughter Lisa Young and her grandson David Darling, Jr. and their families. Cal’s children, William, Cal, Daniel, Bernard, Linda, Debbie, Rosie, Barbara and their families and by her sister in law, Lorraine Swartz, St. Johnsville. She was predeceased by her sons Kenneth F. Mead in 1974 and Albert J. DuPont, III in 2004, and by her brother Kenneth P. Swartz in 2017. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 11:00 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY with Pastor Gertrude Ortlieb of the Inghams Mills Baptist Church officiating. Interment will take place in Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Saturday, November 4, 2017 from 9-11 am and to attend the funeral services to follow. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mrs. Mead be considered to the Inghams Mills Baptist Church, 439 Inghams Mills Rd., Little Falls, NY 13365. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
