Obituary of George T. (Bud) Rieman

LITTLE FALLS – George T. (Bud) Rieman, 90 of Church Street, Little Falls passed away unexpectedly Monday afternoon, January 22, 2018 at Little Falls Hospital with his loving family at his side. He was born on July 19, 1927 in Little Falls the son of the late George and Katherine (Reardon) Rieman. He was a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy class of 1945. A veteran of World War II, following graduation Mr. Rieman enlisted in the US Navy. Entering the service on July 23, 1945 in Syracuse. He served on various vessels and was honorably discharged as a Fireman Second Class on July 15, 1946 at Lido Beach, NY. On October 7, 1950 he was united in marriage to his wife of 67 years the former Mary Alice George at St. Mary’s Church, Little Falls. Mr. Rieman was an active member of the Holy Family Parish Church, Little Falls serving in numerous capacities and ministries including as an altar server for the daily masses. He was a member of the Little Falls Knights of Columbus # 220, Little Falls, Little Falls Historical Society and at one time the City of Little Falls Zoning Board. An avid golfer he enjoyed spending time at the family camp on Keyser Lake, camping, canoeing and cross country skiing with his family and friends. Mr. Rieman was employed for 40 years as a Installer / Repairman for the NY Telephone Co., Herkimer retiring in 1989. He is survived by his wife Mary Alice, his sons, James G. Rieman and his wife Martha, Fairhope, Alabama and Timothy G. Rieman and his partner Mike Giudice, Little Falls, his daughters, Patricia Worden and her husband William, Auburn Wash. and Kristin Shapiro and her husband Todd, Syracuse, His sister and brother in law, Eve and Leo Gregorka, Little Falls, seven grandchildren, Eric Worden, Karl Worden, Lisa Worden, Maxwell Rieman, Van Rieman (Kaitlynne), Joseph Shapiro, Alyson Shapiro and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a nephew, Thomas Gregorka in 2012. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at 10:30 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY and at 11:00 am from the Holy Family Parish Church, Cor. Main & John St.’s, Little Falls where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Terence Healy. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Herkimer. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Thursday, January 25, 2018 from 9-10:30 am and to attend the funeral services to follow. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Rieman be considered to the Holy Family Parish Church, 763 E. Main St., Little Falls, NY 13365.
