Obituary of Lynda J Mosher
LITTLE FALLS – Our hearts are broken. Lynda J. Mosher, our treasured wife, mom, and grandma, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2018 at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown after a brief illness.
Her life began on February 1, 1942 in Little Falls, born to Frank and Elizabeth Schall. She graduated from Little Falls High School in 1960, and married her partner through life, Glen, in June 1961. They shared nearly 57 years together before she gained her angel wings.
Lynda chose to work from the home, ensuring she was always there for her children. She created a warm, loving home for all of us. While she was taking care of her family, she developed a talent and love for cake decorating. For over 30 years, she made cakes of all shapes and sizes, from birthdays to weddings, and beyond. Throughout those years, she made many friendships and was honored to make wedding cakes for the young “boys and girls” for whom she made birthday and graduation cakes.
Mom was always there to be a shoulder to cry on, an ear to listen, or to offer a few words of advice. She was there to support us, but always let us make our own choices and decisions. She was there to cheer us on, or pick up the pieces. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, listening to the younger ones tell her about their days. She loved hearing about their activities and reveling in the joy it brought them. She was also our resident “Betty Crocker,” always available to answer any cooking question that was posed. As with any great cook, more often than not, her response was, “I don’t really have a recipe. I just…” and for many years she was active in the Danube Home Bureau.
Mom leaves behind a family that will cherish her memories, honor her legacy, and miss her like crazy, including; her loving husband, Glen; her children Kenneth Scott Mosher (Cheri) of Salisbury; Gary Mosher (Donna Lee Grimsley) of Diamondhead, MS; Lori (Dave) Harvey, of Little Falls; and Connie (Mike) Searles, of Jacksonville, NC; as well as her beloved grandchildren Tabatha, Scott, Matthew (Christy) and Courtney Mosher, Grayce and Teegan Harvey, Burgandy and Sayge Searles and Cody Thomas; great-grandchildren Leia and Mercedez, sisters- and brothers-in-law; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, granddaughters Jeanette and Tessa, and brothers-in-law Clyde, Bud, Ronnie, and Brayton Mosher.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 6:00 pm from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY with the Rev. Joelle Faulks, Pastor of the United Methodist Church of Herkimer / Little Falls officiating. Interment will take place in Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills later in the spring. In keeping with Lynda’s wishes there are no calling hours.
Mom loved animals, especially her cats. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to HALO, 615 Albany St., Little Falls, NY 13365 or the Herkimer County Humane Society, PO Box, 73, Mohawk, NY 13407. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home.
Our family will forever be grateful to the staff and caregivers at Alpine Rehabilitation and Nursing Home. Over the three years she lived there, Mom received incredible care, compassion, friendship, and love from the people that have become our extended family. You will all have a very special place in our hearts.
