Obituary of Andrew J Congdon

LITTLE FALLS – Andrew J. Congdon, 29 of Churchill Street, Little Falls passed away Sunday, April 8, 2018 in the comfort of his parents’ home with his loving family at his side after a four and half year battle with brain cancer. He was born on August 22, 1988 in Ilion, NY the son of Leslie and Bonnie (Hart) Congdon of Little Falls. Andrew was a graduate of Little Falls High School Class of 2006, where he met the love of his life, Ashley. On August 29, 2009 he was united in marriage to the former Ashley Morrill in New Hartford, NY. Together they raised two amazing children. He was employed as a Back Tender for Burrows Paper now Twin Rivers Paper Corp., Little Falls for several years. He was also a member of the Holy Family Parish Church in Little Falls. Andrew was the type of person who could make you smile on the worst day of your life. Having fun was not hard for him; he had a natural zest for life and was able to help so many people remember not to take life too seriously. He was an incredible family man. The love he had for his family and friends held no bounds. Being a father meant everything to him and it showed with his dedication to every activity his children took part in. One of his favorite pastimes was coaching. Andrew was a Coach for Little Falls Pop Warner Football and Little Falls Little League. He worked with a wonderful group of kids and coaches, including his son, all of whom he treasured very much. Andrew decided early on he wanted to be open with his cancer journey. He wanted to fight as hard as he could with a smile on his face, all while living life to the fullest, cherishing every moment and hopefully inspiring others to do the same. It’s safe to say he succeeded there. He is now known to most of Little Falls as Superman, a true fighter. Andrew’s favorite quote was “You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.” Andrew is survived by his devoted parents Les and Bonnie, his beloved wife Ashley, and his adoring children Lucas J. Congdon and Madison M. Congdon, both at home. He also leaves his older brother Adam Congdon and his wife Sara, Ilion, his sister Miranda Congdon and her fiancé Kevin Burnside, Little Falls, his paternal grandparents Robert and Irene Congdon, Little Falls and his maternal grandparents, John and Dolores Hart, Little Falls and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. As you say goodbye to your ‘Superman’, your ‘Skittles’, your ‘Ferdinand’, your ‘Andy Panda Bear’, your ‘Young C’, you ‘Baby Baby Brother’ Andrew would like everyone to remember this…“And when I’m gone just carry on. Don’t mourn, rejoice every time you hear the sound of my voice, just know that, I’m looking down on you smiling and I didn’t feel a thang so baby don’t feel no pain, just smile back.” (Eminem) Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at 11:00 am from the Holy Family Parish Church, Cor. Main & John St.’s, Little Falls, NY where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will take place in Church Street Cemetery, Little Falls.
