Obituary of Valerie Ann Yesford

GREENVILLE, SC - Valerie Ann (Fiesinger) Yesford, 80 formerly of Little Falls, NY and since 2005 a resident of Greenville, S. Carolina passed away on June 20, 2018 in Simpsonville, S. Carolina after a short but debilitating illness. Valerie was born in Little Falls, New York on December 23, 1937 to George and Kathryn (Bump) Fiesinger. She attended and graduated from St. Mary’s Academy and received a degree in sociology from Nazareth College in 1959. She was employed by the Herkimer County Department of Social Services until her marriage. Thereafter, Valerie was employed by Catholic Charities “Alternatives to Incarceration” program until she joined the Herkimer County Probation Department where she remained employed until her retirement in 2004. Val loved singing, and in her youth and early adulthood, she performed in many band concerts and musical shows throughout the area. At family gatherings, including her wedding, she was often asked to sing “Whatever Lola Wants,” her mother’s favorite song and “Easter Parade,” her father’s favorite song. Besides her parents, Valerie was predeceased by a sister, Cornelia Nellis and a son, Paul George Yesford. She leaves surviving two sons, John Yesford (Beth) of Oakton, Virginia and David Yesford (Sue) of Casselberry, Florida, two daughters, Susan Miller (Greg) of Holly Springs, N. Carolina and Laura Corasaniti (Ben) of Simpsonville, S. Carolina, one sister, Sue Minnis of Philadelphia, PA, one brother G. Gerald Fiesinger (Sandy) of Johnstown, NY, thirteen grandchildren, six greatgrandchildren, three nieces and one nephew. A memorial service for Valerie will be held on Friday, July 6, 2018 at 10:00 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY. Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Herkimer. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Friday, July 6, 2018 from 9 – 10 am and to attend the services to follow. A memorial mass was also held in Simpsonville on June 23, 2018. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Val be considered to Birthright of Greenville, 110 Butler Road, # F, Mauldin, SC 29662. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
