Obituary of James D Harwick

LITTLE FALLS – James D. Harwick, 82, of Johnnycake Road, Little Falls, NY (Town of Danube), passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at his residence. He was born on May 22, 1936, in Little Falls, to the late David and Beatrice (Taylor) Harwick. He was a graduate of the Little Falls High School Class of 1954. On September 1, 1962, in Carthage, NY, he was united in marriage to his wife of 34 years, the former Beverly Boepple of Little Falls, NY. On January 30, 1997, Jim suffered heartbreak as Beverly, his loving wife and faithful friend, succumbed to a long-term illness. Mr. Harwick was a Veteran of the US Army, and was honorably discharged on April 11, 1966, as a Staff Sergeant. He worked at Chicago Pneumatic, Beech-Nut, and was also employed for many years as a tool designer at Remington Arms in Ilion, NY. Jim was a member of the Ilion Moose Lodge #1010. He bowled every Monday with a league at the State Bowling Center in Ilion, and joyously played in a golf league. His greatest enjoyment came from dancing. In his later years, he began going to karaoke clubs in the area, where he was well known as “Gentleman Jim.” It was not uncommon for Jim to be called on stage by local bands to sing a few songs. He made many dear friends along his travels, and was very grateful to have their companionship. He is survived by his loyal daughter, Veronica Harwick of Mohawk, NY; his beloved twin granddaughters, Skylar and Olivia Harwick of Mohawk, who will miss their “Gumpers” very much; as well as his sister, Jean Lowry of Helena, MT. He was predeceased by his brother, Harry Harwick of Daytona Beach, FL. Funeral services will be held privately with close kin. Interment will take place at Mt. View Memorial Gardens in the Town of Little Falls. Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Jim Harwick be considered to Feeding America, 35 East Wacker Drive, Suite 2000, Chicago, IL 60601 http://www.feedingamerica.org/. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
