This has taken me all weekend and gramps would be like get it done and sell some of those cool rock things
He would always say kiddo, why can't you catch a break and I would say you know I can't catch ♡♡♡
He would say something funny and get all serious looking on me like the first picture.
My gramps was a really freaking cool person. I was so lucky to grow up in the country down the road from him and my gram!!!
♡He taught me a lot about respect, not just for other humans and the earth but for the things and people we are lucky enough to have in our lives.
When I moved back home almost 8 years ago I was given the amazing opportunity to be close to my family again.
I could say so much about how important this man will always be to me but most of the things I prefer to keep private.
The story behind the pennies in the Jack photo is one that always makes me smile. :) ♡
♡My gramps, mom and I share the affliction of essential tremors and spasms so when I asked if I could have his bottle of pennies to look through to help fill in his old penny books it was quite a show. We share a love of history and historic things and he was keeping his pennies in a very beautiful old wine bottle and he wanted to keep the bottle so we decided to take the empty Jack bottle and transfer. Hehe. My hands were a shaky half-assed funnel and his shaky hands were dumping them out and you kind of have to shake them as they go in or they get stuck♡♡♡We were laughing so hard. Pennies were getting everywhere. Good memories. I treasure them all!!
Gramps taught me to take care of what you have and it will take care of you forever. He taught me about growing, especially garlic. We bonded over so many things over all the years.
He would even look at pictures of my minerals and let me tell him about them.
♡He was a giving man and gave his time and help to so many people in this area never expecting anything in return. He also showed me it is better to be the bigger person. ♡
I carry him forever in me. I am a part of him and will share the things he taught to everyone I can. Thank you, gramps.
I love you.

To the McKusick family: My condolences and prayers for strength and peace in your loss. I was blessed to have worked with Charley. I think I hold the record for length of time as a journeyman working for him at Remington. He had a big part in me turning out to be the electrician that I was. I can still here him using his gravelly voice saying "pizza bad for knee" and "where are you now?" I'm glad to see that he got to enjoy many years after retirement. My he rest in peace.
