Obituary of Irene M. Euron
Mrs. Irene M. Euron, 93, formerly Little Falls and East Herkimer, New York died Thursday, February 11, 2021 at The Masonic Care Community.
Born on August 17, 1927 at Kast Bridge, NY, she was the daughter of Norton Marjory (Christman) Helmer. She grew up on a dairy farm and attended a one-room schoolhouse until 8th grade. She was a graduate of West Canada Valley School, Class of 1945 and of SUNY Plattsburg where she received her bachelor’s degree 1949 and then master’s degree in Education in 1955.
Mrs. Euron began her teaching career in New York Mills Schools then Voorheesville and lastly West Canada Valley School, where she taught Home Economics, until her retirement in 1979. She worked the summer of 1963 for the State Education Department.
On July 25, 1953 at The Herkimer Reformed Church, Irene married Charles F. Euron, a blessed union of 39 years. He preceded her in death on August 27, 1992.
She was an active member of The Herkimer Reformed Church and the HARC Guardianship Committee, the Royal Neighbors. She volunteered with the Red Cross and was very active in many other organizations, any place that needed help, she was there.
Mrs. Euron is survived by her 5 brothers and their wives, Alton and Madeline Helmer of Dunkirk, NY, Frank and Mary Lee Helmer of Utica, NY, Stuart and Deborah Helmer of Tarboro, NC, Leon and Linda Helmer of Norway, Bert and Mary Ellen Helmer of Herkimer, NY; brother-in-law, Walter Richard of East Herkimer; also so many wonderful nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.
Her brother, Eugene Helmer and sisters, Laverne Helmer, Pearl Small and Marion Richard also predeceased her.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at 1:00 PM at The Herkimer Reformed Church. Anyone wishing to watch the funeral instead of attending please visit www.facebook.com/herkreformed to do so. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, February 15, 2021 from 4:00-7:00PM at Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY. Burial will take place in Fairview Cemetery in Little Falls at a later date. Anyone attending any of the services, please keep in mind to follow Covid guidelines, thank you.
