Dr. Patrick Delamere

Obituary of Dr. Patrick Joseph Delamere

Dr. Patrick Joseph Delamere was ushered into glory July 10, 2021. He enjoyed a full life of love for God, his family, his country, his patients and his Irish heritage. He was married to his beloved wife, Kathleen, for almost 57 years, a wonderful father to 5 redheads, Kieran, Siobhan, Fiona, Brendan and Deirdre and a grandfather to 17 grandchildren, all of whom he loved with all his heart. Patrick was a doctor of chiropractic for 59 years, a colonel in the New York State Guard for 10 years and a resident of Mahopac for 53 years. He loved to play his accordion, watch sunrises and sunsets, read his Bible and pray for his family by name each day. Patrick grew up in Manhattan, the son of Irish immigrants. Early in life, he developed a strong work ethic, graduated from All Hallows Institute and went on to receive his degree as Doctor of Chiropractic at the New York Chiropractic College. Patrick cared for thousands of patients who observed firsthand the miracles that can only be explained by the power of the Holy Spirit. He loved his profession and practiced until the day he entered heaven’s gates. Patrick had a deep devotion to Jesus and a powerful life of faith. As a result he sought out leadership roles at church, in the community and through out his professional career to help people develop strong faith in Jesus. He served faithfully for many years in Full Gospel Businessmen’s Fellowship International, the Putnam County Leadership Prayer Breakfast and was offered a commission in the medical unit of the New York State Guard as both Director of the Chiropractic Unit and Commander of the 244th Medical Unit based in Camp Smith. He loved to travel to Ireland with his family, research his ancestry and support missionaries. He also served in short term missions through the Christian Chiropractors Association in both Siberia and Ecuador. He loved to lead people to Jesus and had a phenomenal gift of evangelism, supporting The Gideons faithfully and handing out Bibles at every opportunity. Patrick dedicated the last decade of his life serving the Amish Community, helping hundreds of families. It was his great joy and he counted it a privilege. He credits all of his success to his relationship with Jesus, his praying mother, his interceding father and his loving wife Kathleen. He is survived by his sister Geraldine Rogers, his wife Kathleen, children and spouses; Kieran & Stacey Delamere, Siobhan & Jim Fitzpatrick, Fiona & Michael Mellett, Brendan & Karen Delamere, Deirdre Delamere and the many grandchildren. The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers, love and support, to Chris Hanley, the staff of Chapman ~Moser and the Amish Community.
