Obituary of Allen W. Gressler

Mr. Allen W. Gressler, 89, of State Route 5S, Mohawk, NY died December 8, 2021 at home with his family by his side. He was born in Little Falls on December 29, 1931 and graduated from Little Falls High School, Class of 1949. Allen was employed with National Blouse Co. in Little Falls before enlisting in the US Air Force in 1952. He was assigned to Hunter AFB in Savannah, GA with the 2nd Bomb Wing, 2nd Field Maint. Sg. as an Aircraft Electrician working on B-29 and B-50 bombers. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force in April 1960 with the rank of SSGT. He later attended Mohawk Valley Community College, and obtained an A.S. Degree in Electronics before working for RCA and ultimately the Federal Government Defense Supply Agency, where he was employed for 34 years. In retirement, he found part-time employment as an attendant and driver for Chapman-Moser Funeral Home in Little Falls. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #31 and a member of Christ Lutheran Church, in Little Falls, where he served on the Church Council and as Church Sexton. Allen and his beautiful wife, Magdalen, were married for 58 years and together they raised four children. He took great pride in providing for his family and he enjoyed maintaining an orderly home. He could often be found outside in his driveway year round, cleaning cars and making sure their tires were spotless. He was very grateful for his wife’s home-cooked meals, especially her tasty spaghetti sauce, delicious gravy, and homemade apple pies. Allen was predeceased by his parents, Emil and Emma Gressler, and brother, Robert. He is survived by his loving wife, Maggie, children Carole (Greg) Burns, Bill (Eloisa) Gressler, Kathy (Ray) Altieri, Karen (Craig) Rowe and grandchildren Tyler, Connor, Sarah (Burns), Domiano, Anthony, Gianna, Angelina (Altieri), and Emma, Evan (Gressler). Calling hours will be Wednesday, December 15, 2-4 PM at Chapman-Moser Funeral Home in Little Falls, with a service immediately following. Please wear a mask. Burial will take place in spring. In lieu of flowers, consider donations to St Jude’s Research Hospital or a charity of your choice.
