Margaret Marian Bialock, 100, passed away peacefully in sleep Wednesday, May 18, 2022, at the Caring Hearts Senior Care Home in Lancaster, California. She was born on November 4, 1921 in Little Falls, New York, the daughter of the late Claude and Gertrude (Seeds) Miller. She was united in marriage to her husband of 63 years, the former Matthew Bialock, on April 24, 1948 at St. Paul's Universalist Church in Little Falls. Margaret was a graduate of Little Falls High School, Class of 1940 and lived on E. Monroe Street for 62 years, having raised three daughters until Matt sadly passed on August 5, 2011. Margaret then moved to Rosamond, California, where she resided with her daughter Joan and son-in-law Ryan. Margaret began her career as a secretary at the former Cherry Burrell Corporation and later at the Edward Jones Insurance Company for 6 years. She took a break from the workplace to raise three children and when her youngest reached school age, she served as a Library Assistant at Benton Hall Elementary School for 17 years. She was actively involved as a leader in the Girl Scouts of the USA and a member of the Rock City Chapter AARP. She also had a passion for reading and volunteered at the Little Falls Public Library literacy program. Margaret was proud of her husband's service in World War II in the United States Marine Corps. She served alongside him as an auxiliary member of the S/Sgt. Steve Stefula VFW Post #4612, Little Falls, NY, auxiliary member of the General Herkimer Chapter #130 Military Order of the Purple Heart, and auxiliary member of the 4th Marine Division, Marine Corps League, Ilion, NY. She recalled the honor of attending multiple visits to 4th Marine Division reunions. Margaret was also an active lifetime member of St. Paul's Universalist Church in Little Falls, a community she held close to heart for her entire life. She served in multiple church board positions including President. She sang in the church choir for 70 years. Her beautiful, reverent voice was a gift of worship. She sang hymns to her granddaughters, recounting "In the Garden" by C. Austin Miles as the first hymn she learned in choir at the young age of 14. Besides a life fulfilled in service to her community, Margaret proclaimed her proudest accomplishment was her family and a life dedicated to taking care of them. Later in life, she recounted story after story of her life adventures. She recalled with keen memory historical events, childhood happenings, family history, Sundays at church, and the dear friends she held so fondly in her heart. Margaret is survived by her daughters Joan (Ryan) Piper, Rosamond, CA; Patricia (Harvey) Gibson, Waterford, NY; Ann (Robert) Parmely, Babylon, NY and three granddaughters, Stacey Norris, Ramstein, DE; Laura Mowery, San Antonio, TX; Samantha Parmely, Babylon, NY, as well as her cousin Janice Dean and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her dear friend and fellow centenarian, Anna Kazmerski. She was preceded by her sister Eileen (Mike) Kendrat in 2006, and her husband Matthew in 2011. Margaret and her family wish a heartfelt thanks to Jonlex and Jez at the Caring Hearts Senior Care home for providing such loving, tender, care and comfort these last few months as well as hospice nurses Liz and Lois who went above and beyond to ensure Margaret’s well-being. Funeral services will commence on July 23, 2022 at 10:30am at St. Paul’s Universalist Church in Little Falls, NY to accommodate a family celebration of life as Margaret is laid to rest beside her beloved husband in Mt. View Memorial Gardens, Town of Little Falls following the service at Church.
