Obituary of Lorraine A. Swartz

Dolgeville- Lorraine A. Swartz, 89, formerly of East Faville Ave, Dolgeville, NY passed away Friday November 11, 2022, at Delhi Rehabilitation and Nursing Center where she was a resident since 2017, with her grandson by her side. 

She was born on December 22, 1932, in Little Falls, the daughter of the late George and Clara Jones of Salisbury, NY.  She attended Dolgeville Central School and graduated from the Utica School of Beauty Culture. 

Lorraine was predeceased by her loving husband, Kenneth P. Swartz, of Little Falls, whom she was happily married to for 68 years.  They were joined in marriage on February 18, 1949, at the Inghams Mills Baptist Church where she was a proud member for most of her life. 

She worked as a beautician for many years and in later years Lorraine purchased the Spofford Black on Main Street in Dolgeville and turned it into a candy shop and restaurant, formerly known as Carousel Candies.  She owned and ran the business until she retired 6 years later. 

She is survived by her three sons, Kenneth Swartz and his wife Dorothy of Wynantskill, NY, Rodney Swartz and his wife Sheba of Little Falls, NY, David Swartz and his companion of Dolgeville, NY, Brothers Gary Jones, Ronald Jones, 8 grandchildren Chris, Renee, and Andrea (whom she and her husband partially raised), Heather, Amy, Korey, Adam, 5 step grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by George Jones, II. 

Lorraine was known for her big heart.  She was always giving to others without asking for anything in return and was the most forgiving person. 

The family will receive friends and relatives from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon on Thursday, November 17, 2022, at the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, Ny 13365. A funeral will take place following visitation at 12:00 noon, with burial taking place following at Rural Park Cemetery, Ingham Mills, NY.
