Obituary of Gary J. Giachetti

Gary J. Giachetti, 72, of Little Falls, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at the Alpine Rehab and Nursing Home with his wife by his side following a battle with ALS.

He was born in Little Falls on December 23, 1951, the son of the late Armond  (Amadeo) and the late Jennie (née Korce) Giachetti.
 

In 1970, he graduated from Dolgeville High School. 

He worked for the Herkimer Co. Highway Department and was the caretaker of Salisbury Rural Cemetery for over 33 years. 

Gary was a former member of the East Herkimer Sno-Riders Club and the Dolgeville Rod and Gun Club and belonged to the Mohawk Valley Squares square dancing club. 

On November 20, 1982, in Dolgeville, NY, he married Phyllis Winkler. 

He was predeceased in death by his parents, mother-in-law Gladys Winkler and niece Elizabeth Winkler. 

Survivors include the love of his life, his wife Phyllis Giachetti; sisters Laurie Landry, Colleen Kuzniak, and Susan Farley (Bill Gilbert); father-in-law Robert Winkler, brother-in-laws Fred Winkler (Millie Saalselder); John and Tina Winkler, Dennis and Kathy Winkler; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and cousins. 

A public graveside will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 13th, 2024, at Salisbury Rural Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY 13365.

The family wishes to extend a sincere thank you to the staff of Alpine Nursing Home for the care and compassion shown to Gary and his family during this difficult time.
