My grandfather was one of the best people I ever met in life. when you went in his home , you were treated like a king.Something that I can't say for many others.I have wonderful memories of growing up around him. Fishing, hunting with him and many special ocassions. I was fortunate to have such a wonderful man to call Grandpa. He could always make you laugh no matter how bad your day was going, and was a very generous NON.greedy person. A pleasure to be around, and treated family like family. I will miss you very much Gramp. Rest in Peace. Love always, your grandson, Russell.

from the time we were children till the day our dad passed ,he was always a constant in our lives.he spent every day of his life worring about each and everyone of his children,he was a man of few words but the ones he said were powerful reminders of his love.he was the strongest, yet gentlist, kind ,peaceful, caring man i know.i told him i could write a book about you dad,all the things he accomplished in his 102 years of life was amazing.he loved to read and learn ,he was able to tell you about the wars we had,the presidents political views and how all things could be changed if they only used their heads.he liked watching jeopardy because it challenged his mind,he loved to walk {from dolgeville to boston as a young man to find a job only to get there to find out eveyone in boston was looking for work too,so he began his journey back home}he workrd hard all his life and did not like the word retirement as he kept busy with his tomato garden and paiting his house when he was well into his eighties, the list is too long ,to complete his life it would have to be a book, all i know is he is very much loved by all he loved and i miss talking to my dad,i love you to heaven and beyond dad,all your large familys do too,.god blrss you till we all meet again...................

Dear Grandpa- There are so many memories of you I will always keep close to my heart. As long as I live I will always see you on Church Street working around the house with your paint and paint brush. You took such pride in your work and your home. I will also always remember you taking me blackberry picking in the woods by Dad and Mom's house when I was a teenager. I couldn't keep up with you then, and probably still couldn't. I will think of you every time I watch Jeopardy or see a Yankee game on TV. I will always remember you sitting at the top of the stairs on Church Street reading your books or working a crossword puzzle. And I will never forget you and my great grandfather Johnson on the swings at Moreland Park. I feel so blessed that Abby and Brooke got to spend time with their great grandfather. Thank you for making us a family, we will cherish our memories until we meet again. We love you! Joanne, John, Abby & Brooke.

Grandpa, I am so sad to have lost one of the men I adored most in my life. I looked up to you since I was a little girl. You showed me kindness and love. You taught me patience, and guided me with your great wisdom. Many of my days were spent with you and Grandma, and I am so thankful to have so many memories with you. Your love for your family was beyond imaginable. You treated everyone the same; always with love. I, too, will never forget you painting and working around the house, tending to your garden, reading your books and listening to Rush Limbaugh on the radio station! I remember you picking on Grandma all the time. You would get yourself so wound up, you would end up choking from laughing so hard. You got a lot of us in trouble because we couldn't help but laugh with you! Your wit was just too much! Your smile will remain with me forever. You were a great man Grandpa. Thank you for instilling your ways in all of us. A part of me has died with you, but I know we will meet again. In the meantime, please watch over us all and fly with the Angels Gramp! I love you more than you can imagine, always and forever. Your Granddaughter and Goddaughter, Michelle.

my dad had a much better life than just pickin blackberrries, his greatest times in life were the quality times he spent with his friends and family. i can remember all the great trips to potsdam to visit my grandparents, and the luxury of having the best aunt and uncle(emereta and harvey, their great children, they were so hospitable) my dad and i remnise about these great people of the north. uncle harvey called dads deer gun,a pea shooter,if you wanted to make him smile ,just mention that, truly a great family. dad also loved to fish,he was truly a great outdoorsman.his door was always open, the first thing he would say ,can i get you something to eat. i had the pleasure of working along side of him in remington arms,he was very hard working man and took pride in everything he did.he loved to do garden work especialy his tomatoes.his life of 102 consisted of many things to numerous to mention.when we get together our conversation would include all our great trips with the jandreau family(hunting etc) and uncle lloyd hooper and our hunting trips there. he would walk around they entire lake, which was a long journey.(nine corner lake)
well dad(the last good-bye is the hardest one to say, this is where the cowboy rides away) your son ,mike

My grandfather was larger than life. I will always remember that he was my image of perfection in a person; always kind and gracious. He had more knowledge and wisdom than most who have doctorates...his wisdom came from listening, reading, observing, and mostly from just being....Those who knew him will miss his presence, especially his family..He was our rock, our "touch stone", he was the one who held our family together and created such a tight bond that can't be broken..Poppy, my greatest tribute to you will be to try and live my life in your image. You were a great teacher and mentor..Right to the very end. And we will continue to learn from you until we meet you in heaven. Well done Poppy - we love you to the stars and back a million times :) your granddaughter - Susan Parker

Uncle Mike is right. Poppy had so many facet's to his personality--far too many to mention. He was a beautiful soul in every way, shape and form. The time he spent on this Earth was never about what he was doing but rather who he was doing it with. He enjoyed the simple things in life but nothing compared to the love he had for his family. Poppy was a man who taught us what it means to live a life of Grace. The kindest, sweetest and most dignified and proud man shall be remembered so uniquely by each of us and those memories will be with each of us always. I love you my Poppy and I miss you like air. Thank you for being a part of my life and enriching it beyond belief.
