Obituary of Joseph F. Pugliese

LITTLE FALLS – Joseph F. Pugliese, 102 formerly of 133 Church Street and Valley View Courts, Little Falls passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at Valley Health Services, Herkimer. He was born on August 29, 1912 in Dolgeville, NY the son of the late Frank and Mary (Petrone) Pugliese. He was educated in Dolgeville schools. He was united in marriage to his wife of 75 years the former Evelyn Hooper on August 20, 1939 at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Little Falls. Mr. Pugliese was employed for many years by the Gehring –Tricot Co., Dolgeville and retired from the Remington Arms Co., Ilion. An avid reader he also enjoyed working crossword puzzles and blackberry picking. He was very proud to be the oldest living member of the Civilian Conservation Corps and recently shared his experience’s in the CCC for a book on the subject. He is survived by his wife; Evelyn, Little Falls, his sons; Michael J. Pugliese and his wife Barbara and Joseph M. Pugliese and his wife Deborah, his daughters; Marie Pennucci and Joanne Tucci and her husband Gary, all Little Falls, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters; Margaret Cataline, Josephine Hall, Rose Ennis and Estella Keyser and a half sister; Mary and by an infant brother; Nichols Pugliese and a half brother; James Spanno and by his grandsons; Chris Pennucci and Michael Pugliese, Jr. Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Town of Herkimer. Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY. There are no calling hours. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Pugliese be considered to the Valley Health Services Residents Fund, 690 W. German St., Herkimer, NY 13350. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose.
