Obituary of Donald A Gehring

LITTLE FALLS – Donald A. Gehring, 82 of State Route 5S, Little Falls passed away Saturday, November 8, 2014 at his residence following a brief illness. He was born on March 30, 1932 in the Town of Danube the son of the late Aaron and Susan (Sivacek) Gehring. He was educated in Danube Rural and Little Falls Schools. He was united in marriage to his wife of 59 years, the former Norma Ashe, on December 25, 1955 at the United Methodist Church Parsonage, Herkimer. An avid guitar player for several area bands, he also had his own radio show on WLFH in 1956. He enjoyed spending time at his camp on Pine Lake, going to garage sales where he was always on the lookout for a “treasure”. He was a member of the Farm Bureau and other farming organizations. Mr. Gehring was a dairy farmer for 70 years operating the Gehringview Farm in the Town of Little Falls. He also drove school bus for the Little Falls – Fonda Bus Corp during the 1950’s and 60’s. He is survived by his wife Norma, Little Falls, his son and daughter in law, Eric and Kelly Gehring, Little Falls, his brother Richard Gehring and his wife Mary Beth, Newfield, NY, three grandchildren Kristina Tomei and her husband Jason, Amherst, NY, Jason Gehring and Emily Gehring both of Little Falls, a great grandson Nicholas Tomei, a brother in law and sister in law John and Irene Ashe, Dolgeville and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister Sandra Wallace on January 24, 1995. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at 10:00 am from the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY with Pastor Gertrude Ortlieb, Dolgeville, officiating. Interment will take place at Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects at the funeral home on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 from 5-8 pm and to attend the funeral services on Wednesday morning. In lieu of flowers, it is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Mr. Gehring be considered to the Little Falls Historical Society, 319 S.
