Obituary of Phyllis J. Mueller

LITTLE FALLS - Phyllis J. Mueller, 88 longtime resident of Little Falls, formerly of 223 Church St. and 550 E. John St. (Rockton Plaza) and most currently a resident at the Alpine Nursing and Rehab. Center, passed away Friday, January 2, 2015 at the Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown. Phyllis was born on March 1, 1926 in Watertown, NY, the daughter of the late Winfield O. and Valeta M. (Fowler) Whitaker. She graduated from Marinette High School, Marinette, Wisconsin, and then entered the Frances Bolten School of Nursing through the Cadet Corps in Cleveland, OH. After graduation she spent six months of training in Topeka, KS before rejoining her parents in Little Falls, and began her nursing career at Little Falls Hospital , where she was a registered nurse in the Maternity Ward and the Surgical Dept. for many years before retiring in 1988. Phyllis was united in marriage to her husband of 34 years, Allen W. Mueller, on September 2, 1950 at the First United Methodist Church, Little Falls. Allen predeceased her on November 2, 1984. She was an active member of the Christ Lutheran Church, Little Falls for many years. Phyllis is survived by her sons William Mueller and his wife Niceta of Dolgeville and Philip Mueller and his wife Mary of Schenectady, her daughter; Carol Ann Ferris and her husband Robert of Martinsville, NJ, a brother in law; Dr. Aram Jigarjian of Palm Springs, CA, her sisters in law; Martha Mueller, Annapolis, MD and Annette Mueller, Tawas, TX, 3 grandchildren; Carli Harrell and her husband Justin, Melinda Ferris and Robyn Ferris and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Patricia Jigarjian. A memorial service will take place in the spring at the convenience of the family at Church Street Cemetery, Little Falls. Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY. There are no calling hours. It is the wish of the family that contributions in memory of Phyllis be considered to the Little Falls Hospital, 140 Burwell St., Little Falls, NY 13365 or to the Alpine Nursing & Rehab. Center, 755 E. Monroe St., Little Falls, NY 13365. Envelopes are also available at the funeral home for this purpose. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff and residents of the Rockton Plaza and Phyllis' many caregivers and wonderful neighbors and friends. Appreciation is also extended to the staff of the Alpine Nursing and Rehab. Center, Little Falls, along with the staff of Little Falls Hospital and Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown for the kindness, care and compassion shown to Phyllis and her family.
