Obituary of Gary Lehr
OPPENHEIM – Gary Lehr, 67 of County Highway 108, St. Johnsville, NY passed away unexpectedly Thursday, July 2, 2015.
He was born on October 13, 1947 in Randolph, Vermont the son of the late Harry and Virginia (Carmen) Lehr. He was a graduate of West Babylon, NY High School as well as a graduate of Oneonta State College, Class of 1970 with a degree in Political Science. In college, 1969, Gary was honored as All American for wrestling (weight class: 177.) Gary was a founding member of ITR Fraternity at Oneonta State College.
Mr. Lehr was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving with the US Army. He entered the service on October 14, 1969 attending Officer’s Basic Camp right after college graduation and was honorably discharged on October 13, 1975.
On June 21, 1969 he was united in marriage to his wife of 46 years the former Joan Youker at the Inghams Mills Baptist Church.
Mr. Lehr was a member of the Oppenheim United Methodist Church. He was employed as a researcher and computer programmer for the NYS Dept. of Health, Albany, NY retiring in 2002.
He is survived by his wife Joan, and by his son and daughter in law David and Cyndi Lehr, Denver, CO.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place in Rural Park Cemetery, Inghams Mills.
Arrangements are by the Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann Street, Little Falls, NY. There are no calling hours.
