Ann D. Miklich Violinist Ann Miklich, String Department Chair at the Community Music Center of Boston, passed away on Saturday morning January 15, 2022, at the age of 68 at the Whidden Memorial Hospital, Everett, Massachusetts after suffering a short illness. Ann was born in Little Falls, NY on September 17th,1953. She grew up in Newville, NY and attended Little Falls High School before heading to Ithaca College for her Bachelor of Music degree and on to New England Conservatory in Boston for her master’s degree. Ann made her life in Boston as a freelancer performing with many of Boston’s orchestras, including the Boston Classical Orchestra, New England String Ensemble, Emmanuel Music and the New Hampshire Symphony. She also played with the Portland Symphony, Dinosaur Annex, Monadnock Music, Alea III, Bard Music Festival and the New Hampshire Music Festival. Through the years, Ann touched many lives, both young and old, in countless ways. She was a devoted and passionate teacher at the Community Music Center of Boston, where she was the recipient of the Marilla MacDill prize for excellence in teaching and community service and will be greatly missed. She was also a wonderful friend to many and had the same passion for life as she did for teaching and music. She was a voracious reader, loved to research family history, attend dance performances, take daily neighborhood walks, meet for tea and conversation, go antiquing and maybe pick up a special tea pot at an antique shop. Ann is survived by her mother Lois Miklich, her sister Sheila and brother-in-law John Salamone, her aunt Carol Miklich, several cousins and many friends. She was predeceased by her father Joseph Miklich Jr, brother Joseph W. (Chip) Miklich and her uncle Robert Miklich.
